After almost a year of doing business and meeting folk in and around Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, we have built up quite a reasonable deal flow. To the extent that we have deals without funders and would like to meet with investors interested in taking up private equity stakes in what tend to be small to medium sized, but growing businesses.
Our deal flow is not restricted to any particular industry and we currently have a number of industries represented on our books. Typically we are looking for clients to take up between a 10% and 40% stake in a business, for values of $100,000 or more. Involvement in the business is dependant on the investor's preferences, suffice to say that the investor will have, at least, full access to the business and a seat on the board of directors. Investments will be made with a planned exit in mind, typically within 5 to 10 years.
Our role as professional advisors will be to initially appraise and value the investment prior to presentation to a potential investor. Once an investment has been agreed, we will advise and guide our client, the investor, in the process of investing the funds and remain involved throughout the investment period to monitor and represent our client's interests. Our fees will be paid by the investee company, based on a set percentage of the value of the investment. This works well as we have an incentive is to increase the value of the investment, an incentive directly linked to our client's goal.
